OpenSea has been hit by a massive leak of user email addresses

Last year, in addition to the unprecedented growth of the crypto market, we also experienced a boom in the NFT industry, with the largest platform for buying and selling these so-called “non-fungible tokens” in terms of daily turnover being OpenSea. However, this platform was recently hit by a massive leak of users’ email addresses, according to official information, the leak occurred after a Customer.io employee abused his authority over the provider’s client data.

“Because the data compromise included email addresses, there may be a heightened likelihood for email phishing attempts. Please be aware that malicious actors may try to contact you using an email address that looks visually similar to our official email domain, ‘opensea.io’ (such as ‘opensea.org’ or some other variation).”

OpenSea advises all users to be very careful of fraudulent e-mails, spam, and phishing attacks from now on. The platform also announced that it has started an official investigation in this regard. However, we are once again aware that such things are not at all conducive to online security or to the crypto industry being more respected, on the contrary. Even with events like these, there will still be a large number of people staying out of the crypto industry as they worry about their funds.
